Torre Abbey |
Torquay is home to the Agatha Christie Mile, established in 1990, the centenary of the authors birth.´This walk includes many sites known to her, including Torre Abbey, The Torquay Museum and the Pavilion among others. Torre Abbey is is Torquays´oldest building dating back to 1196, and is home to the Agatha Christie Memorial Room, which features Agatha Christie favorite armchair her 1937 Remington Portable Typewriter and her plotting notebook containing the handwritten manuscript of the best seller "A Carabbean Mystery". Devon´s oldest Museum is home to the Agatha Christie Centenary Exhibition, the only one of its kind in the world. It was created in 1990 with the help of the Christie family, who have loaned exhibits and photos of Agatha previously never seen . The Pavilion was first open to the public in 1912 as a grand concert hall. Agatha had a great love of music and attended many concerts here. In fact, in early 1913 Agatha enjoyed a Wagnerian concert here with Archie Christie, who she late married.

Torquay esta localizada em Torbay e compõe juntamente com Paignton e Brixham a Riviera Inglesa. As tres cidades formam um único balneário de praias arenosas e águas azuis. Vale a pena conhecer. Da Estação de Paddington em Londres pega-se o trem da Great Western e em pouco mais de duas horas chega-se à região de Devon. O passeio é lindo e o viajante recomenda, principalmente para os fãs da Rainha do Crime!
